Executive Board Members

Chester Bishop

VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER Currently serving as Board Vice President, Mr. Bishop is the President of Surealty Title, Inc. He is a seasoned housing advocate with over 20 years of management experience running a title company that consistently gets community awards for not only it’s level of service but it’s commitment to customer service. Mr. Bishop brings sales, marketing, information technology and human resources expertise to HFA, Inc. As a board member for multiple non profits, including the Broward Housing & Community Development Task Force and the South Florida Board of Realtists, Mr. Bishop is very committed to making a difference in his community.

Maria Kong-Holness

Board President Currently serving as Board President, Maria Kong-Holness brings strong financial, human resources, and management skills to HFA, Inc., as well as extensive experience with non profit organizations. Ms. Kong-Holness is the Owner and business manager of Markon Realty, a Real Estate firm located in Broward County. As such, she leads a strong administrative team and manages the internal structure of daily operations. Ms. Kong-Holness responsibilities also include overseeing a property management company. A recent past president of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) she is a celebrated member of the community with a passion for volunteering, Ms. Kong-Holness believes strongly in giving back to the community.

Nancy L. Merolla

BOARD MEMBER

Nancy L. Merolla has joined Bayview Center for Mental Health as Area General Manager for Broward County Solutions. Established in 1979, Bayview has been providing substance abuse and mental health solutions to empower nearly 5,000 consumers annually in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Services include community and supportive housing and rehabilitation, residential treatment programs, a Club House, crisis stabilization and mobile assessment, outreach and case management, specialized services for homeless consumers with co-occurring disorders, FACT team and other programs.

Ms. Merolla is a long time professional in the social services arena. Coming from a 27 year career in the banking industry, she was appointed by Secretary George Sheldon in August 2009 as the Circuit Administrator of the Florida Department of Children and Families for Broward County.

Prior to the DCF appointment, Ms. Merolla spent a total of thirteen years serving Broward Housing Solutions including five years on the Board of Directors and an additional eight years as President/CEO, was Chief Operating Officer of the Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc., and served as Chief Executive Officer of The Starting Place, Inc.

Ms. Merolla currently serves on numerous Boards and Committees to include 211-First Call for Help Broward, Broward Housing Partnership, and maintains active membership status in Leadership Foundation of Broward County, Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association, Mental Health Task Force and others.

Ms. Merolla has received multiple recognitions for her dedication and hard work in the Broward County community where she has resided for over 45 years. She has a strong business background and has a proven record in establishing quality, efficient, and profitable healthcare, and related businesses.

Sharon McLennon

BOARD TREASURER & ACTING SECRETARY

Currently serving as Board Treasurer, Sharon McLennon brings her knowledge and experience as a CPA to the table. As the founder of Renaissance Property Management and Splendor Realty. Her extensive experience in marketing and managing properties as well as developing and implementing financial systems, strategies, processes and controls contributes significantly to the improvement of bottom line results for her managed real estate portfolio.

Ms. McLennon has been actively involved in managing both entities since 1999 and 2002 respectively. Over the years, McLennon has participated in more than $90 million in Real Estate transactions. Ms. McLennon currently serves as the Treasurer for the South Florida Board of Realtists.
